Book Reviews? Or is there a better way to reach people through newspapers?

When most authors think about marketing their book, they think publicity.
And when they think publicity, they usually mean book reviews.

I gotta tell you. Book reviews are tough.

(Don't worry. We've got a better way. I'll show it to you in a minute . . .)

Why are book reviews tough to get? In order to get your book reviewed, book reviewers typically require that you submit it to the book reviewer FOUR TO SIX MONTHS BEFORE YOU PUBLISH YOUR BOOK!

Now I don't know about you, but most authors I talk to would like to start getting their book reviewed the day the book arrives in their warehouse (or garage, as the case may be). Most authors don't want to wait four to six months. They want it now.

Further, with 175,000 books published this year -- that's 479 books published every single day! -- this volume alone could send a book reviewer to the brink of insanity.

Say a newspaper book reviewer reviews 20 books each week. If they receive 479 books each day, that's 3,479 books per week. On numbers alone, thus means your book has one-half-of-one-percent chance of getting reviewed in the traditional manner (20 books reviewed / 3,479 books received). Since most book reviewers give preference to books published by "the big guys," if your book is independently published, your chances of getting reviewed by book reviewers is even smaller.

But I promised you that this cloud has a silver lining.

Here it is.

You CAN get your book FEATURED in newspapers. Tons of them!

And it's MUCH easier to do than getting it reviewed!

What's more . . . most authors notice that they sell more books when your book is featured than they do when their book is reviewed.

So how do you do it? Here's what we did for a few of our clients.

Rather than announce that your book has been released, as you would in a book review, you find what's newsworthy or helpful in your book, and write an article about it. Here are two examples.

Why should YOUR book be "reviewed?"

(In your article, make sure to include your website and a specific, compelling reason to go there! See my previous post "How Can I Sell More Books?")
