(Port Townsend,
Wash.) – Do you know what influences your teenager most? Friends?
Teachers? TV? Movies? Nope. According to a recent article in USA
Today, religion is the surprising answer: “Going to church or
temple may be the best tonic for kids whose self-esteem is withering.”
This is well
supported by one of the hottest trends in the book publishing
industry: teen spirituality. With books like Chicken Soup for
the Teenage Soul, Extreme Teen Bible, and Wil’s Bones on
the market, parents are finding new ways to introduce their adolescents
to spirituality.
“Young adults
are constantly looking to define themselves—it’s a perfect time
to be exploring one’s spirituality,” says Kevin Bowen, author
of Wil’s Bones. “As an author who incorporates Christian
themes into contemporary thrillers, I aim to provoke their minds
and to persuade them without preaching.”
Wil’s Bones
is available in bookstores, at www.engagepublishing.com, or by
calling 1-877-536-4243.
